Dashpot: Adjustments

1.

Before adjusting the dashpot, the throttle housing assembly must be removed from the intake manifold.

2.

Install protractor (tool 3084 or equivalent, Fig. 45) to primary throttle shaft, and pointer to the throttle housing.

3.

Zero the protractor at the idle position.

4.

Open the throttle about 20°, then slowly close.  The dashpot plunger should just touch the throttle roller at 12 - 14°.

5.

Adjust the dashpot, if necessary, by loosening the locknut on the mounting stud and turning the dashpot.
