Valve Guide: Service and Repair

1.

Worn valve guides can be removed using rod 3121 and sleeve 30-23, or their equivalents.

2.

Insert rod into valve guide from combustion chamber side, then push out using sleeve as a support.

3.

Coat new guides with engine oil, then press into cold cylinder head from camshaft side.

4.

Press guides in as far as they will go. Once valve guide shoulder is seated, do not use more than one ton of pressure, or guide shoulder may break.
Ream guides by hand using tool 3120 or equivalent and a proper cutting lubricant.

5.

Machine valve seats.
