Brake Pad: Service and Repair
Front
Front brake pads, removing and installing
Note:
If the brake pads are to be re-used, mark them while removing and re-install each one in the same position, otherwise braking will not be
uniform.
Remove wheels.
Remove lower mounting bolt for brake caliper housing. Counter-hold at guide pin.
Swing brake caliper housing upward and remove pads.
WARNING: Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth through a hose.
CAUTION: Extract some brake fluid from the fluid reservoir before pushing back the pistons.
Use the bleeder bottle or a plastic bottle, which is used only for brake fluid, for extracting the fluid.
If this is not done, particularly if the brake fluid has been topped up recently, the excess brake fluid may overflow and cause
damage.
