Refrigerant: Service and Repair
Automotive refrigerant containing CFC's is hazardous to the earth's atmosphere. To protect our environment, use an Underwriter's
Laboratory (UL) approved refrigerant recovery/recycling unit such as Kent-Moore ACR3 or equivalent, whenever discharging an A/C system.
The A/C system should be serviced only by trained personnel familiar with equipment use, related safety precautions and regulations
governing the discharging/handling/disposal of automotive refrigerants.
Always wear safety goggles when charging or discharging system. Use caution so that refrigerant does not come in contact with your skin or
eyes. If refrigerant comes in contact with skin or eyes, do not rub, flush immediately with cool water, then seek medical attention. Keep
refrigerant away from open flames, exposure to open flame will produce poisonous gas.
1.
Close both valves on A/C manifold gauge set, then connect hose from low pressure gauge to low pressure service valve on compressor.
2.
Remove A/C refrigerant high pressure switch (red housing) in A/C line between condenser and compressor.
3.
Connect hose from high pressure gauge to high pressure service valve located in A/C line between condenser and compressor, then the manifold
gauge hose to inlet connection on refrigerant recovery/recycling unit.
4.
Follow refrigerant recovery/recycling unit manufacturer's instructions to discharge A/C system into recovery/recycling unit.
5.
Close manifold gauge valves when refrigerant is fully discharged.
6.
Disconnect power supply from compressor clutch to prevent damage to system if compressor is accidentally switched On with refrigerant system
discharged.
