Removing and installing bumper cover (front)
   
Removing and installing bumper cover (front)
1 - Bolt
q   2 Nm
2 - Bumper cover
q   Removing
–  If necessary, unplug connector for ambient temperature sensor -G17- and connector for front parking aid senders.
–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -7- from closure plate from below.
–  Unscrew bolts -6- from wheel housing liner and detach clip -4- behind liner → Anchor.
–  Unscrew bolts -3- from top of radiator grille.
–  Pull side sections slightly out above wheel housing liners, slide cover forwards and release cover → Anchor.
–  Pull bumper cover off vehicle towards the front.
q   Installing
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
  Caution
When installing, tabs on lock carrier -arrow- must engage in top of radiator grille on both sides.
3 - Bolt
q   4.5 Nm
4 - Fastener
q   Release underneath wheel housing liner on both sides and pull out
5 - Speed nut
6 - Bolt
q   2 Nm
7 - Bolt
q   2 Nm

Detaching fastener
   
–  Release fastener -3- by pulling out locking pin -4-.
–  Pull fastener -3- out of wing -2- and bumper cover -1-.
–  When installing, lock fastener again with locking pin.

Unclipping side sections of bumper cover
1 - Bumper cover
  Caution
l  Do not simply pull out the side sections completely; otherwise the cover could be damaged.
l  First bend out the rear of the cover slightly over the wheel housing liner, and then slide it forwards until the clip of the headlight mounting disengages.
–  Unscrew bolts -4- and remove fastener -3-.
–  Side section must be pulled out over wheel housing liner in direction of -arrow- before pulling cover off towards front.
–  Then slide cover forwards and at the same time disengage it from headlight mounting → Anchor.
2 - Mounting for headlight

–  Underneath wheel housing liner
–  Pull out locking pin and detach fastener.
4 - Bolt
q  
5 - Wheel housing liner
6 - Speed nut
q   Fit on bumper cover on both sides
7 - Mounting for headlight

Releasing cover
  Note
For greater clarity, the bumper cover is shown without the wing.
   
–  Bolted connections unfastened and fastener removed from wing.
–  Bend open side section of bumper cover -1- slightly over wheel housing liner.
–  Slide cover forwards in direction of -arrows- out of fasteners of headlight mounting -2-.
–  Only now pull side section completely out of wing and headlight mounting and detach bumper cover from vehicle towards front.
