| Open the glove compartment lid and screw out the bolts -1...4-. |
WARNING Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate. |

| Detach the glove compartment to the extent required to unplug the connection at the central connector. |

| In the case of the equipment version with key-operated switch to deactivate front passenger side airbag -E224-, heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter. |

| Make sure the connectors are pressed on as far as they will go and are heard to engage. |

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following: |

| Plug the connector together until it is heard to engage. |
WARNING The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (airbag, belt tensioner for example) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle when connecting the battery. |

Note If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, the event recorder must be interrogated, erased and interrogated again → Vehicle diagnostic tester. |
