| Unclip the support bracket -2- from the backrest frame. |

| Disengage the Bowden cable -3- at the lever -1-. |

| Disengage the Bowden cable at the spring mat or lumbar support -arrow- and remove from the backrest frame. |

| Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter. |

| Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate. |

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following: |
Note Make sure the connectors are pressed on as far as they will go and are heard to engage. |

| Check the locking function of the Bowden cable for the backrest release mechanism. |
WARNING The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (airbag, belt tensioner for example) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle when connecting the battery. |

Note If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, the event recorder must be interrogated, erased and then interrogated again → Vehicle diagnostic tester. |
