Removing and installing backrest cover with backrest padding - standard seat (fabric version)
Removing and installing backrest cover with backrest padding - standard seat (fabric version)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Front end hook -3370-
Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Remove the front seat → Chapter.
–  Attach the front seat to the seat repair stand -VAS 6136- → Chapter.
–  Remove the cover for the backrest fitting → Chapter.
–  Remove the head restraint guides → Chapter.
–  Remove the trim for the backrest release mechanism → Chapter.

–  Fold the backrest -1- forwards.
–  Use a screwdriver to prise out the fastener strip -2- of the backrest cover and open the fastener.

–  Fold back the backrest cover -1- and backrest padding -3-.
–  Disengage the contour wire -2- on the back of the backrest frame.
–  Pull out the contour wire through the opening -arrow- in the backrest padding.
–  Fold the backrest slightly to the rear again and pull out the backrest cover forwards at the bottom under the backrest.

–  Evenly lift off the backrest cover -2- from the backrest padding on the left and right -arrows A- and fold upwards.
–  Disengage -arrows B- the contour wire -3- at the rear at the spring mat.
–  Lift the backrest cover with backrest padding -1- off the backrest frame.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
t  Heed the measures to be taken when fitting the front seat → Chapter.
Install in reverse order.
Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
