Renewing oil seal for flange shaft (right-side)   Note

Oil seal -1- and sleeve -2- are combined as one unit and cannot be separated.

Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Thrust piece -T10148- t  Spindle from assembly device -3066- t  Multi-purpose tool -VW 771- t  Extractor hook -VW 771/37- t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306- t  M12 nut t  Sealing grease -G 052 128 A1-

Procedure –  Remove flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter. –  Pull out flange shaft oil seal together with sleeve.   Note A shoulder is located on inside diameter of sleeve. –  Position puller hook -VW 771/37- immediately behind shoulder inside sleeve. –  During pulling operation, press puller hook -VW 771/37- firmly in against sleeve. –  Clean contact surface and sealing surface.

–  Screw spindle -A- from assembly device -3066- into threaded piece in differential. –  Draw in oil seal with sleeve as far as stop using thrust piece -T10148- by turning M12 nut -item B-.

–  Pack space between sealing lip and dust lip -arrow- half full with sealing grease -G 052 128 A1-. –  Install flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter. –  Check oil level in gearbox and top up with gear oil if necessary → Chapter.
