Removing and installing coolant pump Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Engine bung set -VAS 6122-

t  Locking pin -T10060 A-

t  Open-end spanner, 16 mm -T10241-

Removing –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove front wheel housing liner (right-side) → Rep. gr.66. –  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Release hose clip -1- and detach air hose. –  Remove bolts -arrows-.

–  Release hose clips -1 and 2- and remove air hose. –  Disconnect vacuum hose -3- from air hose.   Note Disregard -item 4-.

–  Remove bolts -1 and 3-. –  Release hose clip -2-, detach air pipe (top right) and remove air hose.

–  Unplug electrical connector -4-. –  Remove bolts -1 and 3-. –  Press release tabs and disconnect crankcase breather hoses -arrows-. –  Release hose clip -2- and disconnect hose at activated charcoal filter. –  Push hoses aside.

–  Unplug electrical connectors on: 1 -  Intake air temperature sender 3 -G520- 5 -  Regulating flap control unit -J808- –  Release hose clip -3- and move clear fuel hose -2-. –  Remove bolts -arrows-, detach intake connecting pipe and at the same time disconnect crankcase breather hose -4- (press release tabs).

–  Move clear fuel hose -4- and detach air pipe -3-. –  Seal off open connections to supercharger with clean cloths.   Note Disregard -items 1, 2-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- and release hose clip -1-. –  Remove bolt -arrow-.

–  Remove bolts -2- and detach bracket -1- and air pipe (right-side).

–  Carefully press retaining tabs on cover for noise insulation for supercharger outwards -arrows-. –  Detach cover (front) together with noise insulation.

–  Slacken poly V-belt for supercharger by turning tensioner in clockwise direction using open-end spanner, 16 mm -T10241-. –  Lock tensioner with locking pin -T10060 A-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Remove bolts -arrows- and detach coolant pump with magnetic clutch for supercharger -N421-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pump - exploded view“   Note t  The coolant pump seal is bonded in position. The coolant pump must be renewed if the seal is damaged. t  Fit new O-ring. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Install intake connecting pipe → Rep. gr.24. –  Install crankcase breather hoses → Chapter. –  Install air pipes → Chapter. –  Install air hoses with screw-type clips → Fig.. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Install front right wheel housing liner → Rep. gr.66. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor. –  Reset current adaption values of magnetic clutch for supercharger -N421- in „Guided Functions“ using → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
