Removing shock absorber
–  Remove wheel → Rep. gr.44.
–  Remove wheel housing liner → Rep. gr.66.

–  Use wheel bolt to attach engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- with support -T10149- to wheel hub.
  WARNING
t  Do not raise or lower vehicle when engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- is under vehicle. The vehicle could slip off the lifting platform.
t  Do not leave engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- under vehicle for longer than necessary.

–  Remove bolts -1-. If necessary, lift vehicle until bolts are accessible.

–  Unscrew nut -1- and take out bolt -2- for shock absorber -3-.
–  Take out shock absorber.

Installing shock absorber
–  Fit shock absorber in position.
–  Secure shock absorber -3- hand-tight to rear axle using new hexagon bolt -2- and new nut -1-.
–  Bolt shock absorber to body.
–  Tighten bolts with axle in unladen position → Chapter.
Tightening torque → Chapter „Exploded view - axle beam with attachments“
–  Fit wheel → Rep. gr.44.
