Repairing refrigerant circuit
Repairing refrigerant circuit
HD = High-pressure side
ND = Low-pressure side

1 - Air conditioner compressor regulating valve -N280-
q   Do not remove
q   Checking actuation and function → Chapter
  Note
The air conditioner compressor regulating valve -N280- is actuated by the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- and controls the pressure at the low-pressure side of the refrigerant circuit.
2 - Compressor
q   O-ring seal for the compressor: for an LP connection: 23.8 mm; 2.4 mm for an HP connection: 11.1 mm; 1.8 mm
q   Detaching and attaching refrigerant pipe from/to the compressor → Chapter
q   To protect the compressor the engine must only be started when the refrigerant circuit is completely assembled.
q   Remove the poly-V-belt → Relevant Workshop Manual, Engine Mechanical Components; Repair group 13
q   Removing and installing compressor → Chapter
q   After the installation of a new compressor or filling with fresh refrigerant oil (e.g. after blowing out the refrigerant circuit), turn the compressor manually 10 revolutions before the first start to avoid damage to the compressor.
3 - Oil drain plug
q   A sealing ring is installed on the Denso compressor, always replace it
q   Tightening torque: 30 Nm
q   May only be unscrewed to drain refrigerant oil if the compressor is removed. Turn the compressor via the clutch plate of the magnetic coupling to accelerate discharge of the refrigerant oil
4 - Pulley
q   Replace → Chapter
5 - Pressure relief valve, 10 Nm
q   Do not remove
6 - Connection with valve
7 - Air conditioner high-pressure sender -G65-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking signal → Chapter
8 - Condenser
q   O-ring seal: input: 11.1 mm; 1.8 mm output: 11.1 mm; 1.8 mm
q   Detaching and re-attaching refrigerant pipes → Chapter
q   Removing and installing condenser → Chapter
9 - Screw cap
q   with seal
q   Must be fitted
10 - Service connection
q   High-pressure side
q   For measuring, draining and filling at the service station
11 - Union in the refrigerant pipe
q   O-ring seal: 11.1 mm / 1.8 mm
q   Tightening torque: 15 Nm
12 - Restrictor
q   Installed in the threaded connection, Item → Item
q   O-ring seal: 7.5 mm / 1.5 mm
q   Replace restrictor with O- ring seal
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Apply a small amount of refrigerant oil to the O-ring seal before installing the restrictor.
13 - Evaporator
q   O-ring seal: input: 11.1 mm; 1.8 mm output: 16.7 mm; 1.8 mm
q   Tightening torque of the hexagon socket-head bolts: 25 Nm
q   Removing and installing refrigerant pipe → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
14 - Service connection
q   Low-pressure side
15 - Screw cap
q   with seal
q   Must be fitted
16 - Reservoir
q   O-ring seal: input: 16.7 mm; 1.8 mm output: 16.7 mm; 1.8 mm
q   Tightening torque: input (hexagon socket-head bolt on the block connection): 25 Nm output (screwed pipe coupling): 40 Nm
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
