t  Protective cover -VAS 6011-
Test sequence
–  Wash and polish outside of bonnet with a chamois leather.
–  Release the service flap from inside.

–  Release bonnet -arrows- and pull it forwards slightly.

–  Clamp the protective cover -VAS 6011- over the bonnet.
  A10-0685
–  Remove the bonnet and lay it down on the side of the protective cover of the -VAS 6011-.
  Note
Do not set the bonnet down on the points.

–  Check the area around the sender for gearbox hydraulic pressure -G270--item 23- for leaks.
–  If necessary, replace sender or the sealing ring -22- → 5-speed Manual Gearbox 085 DS; Rep. Gr.34.
–  Check the area around the hose/pipe assembly -10 … 12- at the hydraulic control unit for leaks.
–  If necessary, replace a leaking hose/pipe assembly or the corresponding O-ring -13- → 5-speed Manual Gearbox 085 DS; Rep. Gr.34.
   
–  Check the area around the hose/pipe assembly -1- and -2- at the gear actuator for leaks.
–  If necessary, replace a leaking hose/pipe assembly or the corresponding O-ring → 5-speed Manual Gearbox 085 DS; Rep. Gr.34.

–  Check the area around the clutch slave cylinder -1- (with clutch travel sender -G162-) for leaks.
–  If necessary, replace a leaking hose/pipe assembly -11- or the corresponding O-ring -12- → 5-speed Manual Gearbox 085 DS; Rep. Gr.34.

   
–  Check the area around the selector shaft (inserted into selector finger -A- and secured using screw -1-) for leaks.
–  Eliminate any leaks at the selector shaft of the gear actuator.
If no leaks are found:
–  Perform the final control diagnosis of the hydraulic control unit → Chapter.
–  Perform the gear actuator final control diagnosis → Chapter.
