Effects of leaks in charge air system
A - Leaks after air mass meter -G70-
Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Connecting hose between air mass meter -G70- and turbocharger
2 - Connecting hose to crankcase breather
Effect: Loss of power
B - Leaks after turbocharger (intake side)
Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Air intake hoses and pipes between turbocharger and charge air cooler
2 - Air intake hoses and pipes between charge air cooler and intake manifold
3 - Charge air cooler
4 - Seal below intake manifold pressure sender -G71-
5 - Seal between intake connecting pipe, mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve and intake manifold
6 - Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head
Effect: inadequate charge pressure
C - Leaks after turbocharger (exhaust side)
Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Components of exhaust gas recirculation system
2 - Connection between exhaust manifold and cylinder head
Effect: inadequate charge pressure; possible smell of exhaust gas, traces of soot in engine compartment
