Removing and installing oil filter bracket Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamps for hoses up to 25 mm -3094-

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- t  Electric drill with plastic brush attachment t  Sealant → Parts catalogue t  Safety goggles

Removing –  Remove bonnet → Chapter. –  If fitted, unclip bracket -1-. –  Take off engine cover panel -arrows-. –  Remove noise insulation beneath cover.

–  Loosen sealing cap -arrow- several turns to drain the content of the oil filter housing into the sump.

–  Pull oil dipstick out of guide tube. –  Remove guide tube -1- for oil dipstick. –  Pull oil filler pipe -2- off oil filler reservoir. –  Move electrical wiring on oil filter bracket clear.

–  Remove bolt -arrow- at connection for dipstick guide tube.

–  Remove noise insulation -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector at oil pressure switch -F1--item 1-. –  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- under engine. –  Unscrew oil pressure switch. –  Detach oil supply pipe going to turbocharger at oil filter bracket -2-.   Note Disregard -item 3-.

–  Clamp off coolant hoses at oil cooler with hose clamps -3094- and detach -arrows-.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove oil filter bracket. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Fill up with engine oil and check oil level → Chapter. Tightening torques

l  1) Renew bolts. l  2) 90° = one quarter turn.
