1 - Cylinder head
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking for distortion → Fig.
q   Sealing surface for camshaft housing must be free of oil and grease
q   If renewed, change coolant and engine oil
2 - Bolt
q   20 Nm
3 - Engine lifting eye
4 - Hydraulic valve compensation element
q   Mark installation position for re-installation
q   Lubricate contact surface
5 - Securing clip
q   Check for firm attachment
q   Not supplied separately
6 - Roller rocker finger
q   Mark installation position for re-installation
q   Check roller bearings for ease of movement
q   Lubricate contact surface
q   Attach to hydraulic compensation element -item 4- using securing clip -item 5-
7 - Oil strainer
q   Inserted into cylinder head
q   Renew
8 - Bolt
q   20 Nm
9 - Camshaft housing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Note correct sequence when loosening → Anchor
q   Tightening torque and sequence → Fig.
11 - Engine lifting eye
12 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Note correct sequence when loosening → Anchor
q   Tightening torque and sequence → Fig.
13 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renewing → Chapter „Removing and installing cylinder head“
q   Installation position: Part number points towards cylinder head, and must be legible from the inlet side
q   If renewed, change coolant and engine oil

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
–  Use straight edge and feeler gauge to measure cylinder head for distortion at several points.
l  Max. permissible distortion: 0.05 mm.

Reworking cylinder head sealing surface
Machining of the cylinder head (surface grinding) is only permissible down to the minimum dimension -a-.
l  Minimum dimension: -a- = 108.25 mm

Cylinder head - tightening torque and sequence
–  Renew cylinder head bolts.
–  Tighten bolts in the sequence -1 ... 10- in 4 stages as follows:
1.  Screw in by hand until they make contact.
2.  Tighten to 30 Nm.
3.  Turn 90° further.
4.  Turn 90° further.
