  • ◆ Special tool 3217

Removing

  • ‒ Obtain code on vehicles with coded radio/integrated radio and navigation system.
  • ‒ With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
  • ‒ The fuel tank must not be more than 3/4 full when removing the fuel delivery unit. Drain fuel tank if necessary. Procedure.
  • ‒ Briefly open fuel tank filler cap (to release pressure).
  • ‒ Fold down rear seat bench.

  • ‒ Fold back floor covering under rear seat bench.
  • ‒ → Turn fuel delivery unit cover anti-clockwise and remove.

  • ‒ → Release 4-pin connector -arrow- and unplug.

Warning
Fuel system is under pressure. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
  • ‒ → Disconnect fuel supply pipe -1- and fuel return pipe -2- (press release tabs).

  • ‒ → Remove union nut with spanner 3217.
  • ‒ Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.

Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

  • ‒ → Note correct installation position:
    • ‒ Marking -2- on flange must coincide with marking -1- on fuel tank -arrows-.

  • ‒ → Tighten union nut with spanner 3217.
 
A20-0707
  • ‒ Connect fuel lines.
    • ‒ Blue return pipe -1- goes to connection with marking -R-.
    • ‒ Black supply pipe -2- goes to connection with marking -V-.
  • ‒ Connect battery and enter anti-theft code on vehicles with coded radio/ radio and navigation system

=> Operating instructions

  • ‒ Close windows fully using electric window switches.
  • ‒ Then operate all electric window switches again for at least one second in the "close" direction to activate the automatic one-touch function.
  • ‒ Set clock to correct time.
