Removing –  Remove airbag module → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.69. –  Remove airbag steering wheel → Chapter

–  Remove bolt -1-. –  Pull cover -2- to the left and disengage. –  Remove floor mat on driver's side → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.70.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-. –  Remove top and bottom parts of steering column trim.   Caution Coil connector remains on steering column switch. Ensure that coil connector is not twisted out of centre position.

–  To prevent unintentional turning, secure coil connector -2- using adhesive tape -1-. 3 -  Steering angle sender -G85- –  Remove driver's storage compartment → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.

–  Remove trim cover -1- in direction of arrow.   Note! Steering angle sender -G85- does not have to be separated from steering column switch when removing steering column → Brake system; Rep. Gr.45.

–  Detach all connectors from steering angle sender -1- and steering column switch -2-. –  Slacken off bolt -3- on clamp until steering column switch can be detached. –  Place steering column switch to one side.

–  Detach wiring harness from cable retainer clips -arrows A-.   Note! t  Only remove cable retainer if damaged. t  Cable retainer is available separately as a replacement part. t  Replacement steering columns are supplied with cable retainer. –  Remove cable retainer -1-. Pivot cable retainer upwards and simultaneously remove from the rear fastening -arrow B-. –  Detach wiring harness with cable clip on left-side of steering column.

–  Detach connector for immobiliser reader coil -1- and connector for ignition/starter switch -2-. –  Unscrew earth connection -3-.

–  Remove hexagon nuts -arrows-. –  Detach relay carrier from studs. Do not remove relay carrier any further.

–  On vehicles with manual gearbox, remove connecting plate between clutch and brake pedals -arrows-.

–  Remove hexagon bolt -1-. –  Pull universal joint off steering box.
