Steering fault table
Interrogating fault memory

Notes:

  • ◆ Power steering faults as of version 6Q0423155 = part no. of power steering control unit -J500 (refer to Parts List for current control unit version) are stored in the dash panel insert. In other words, power steering diagnosis is performed by the dash panel insert.
  • ‒ Switch on ignition
  • ‒ Switch on printer by pressing PRINT key (lamp in key lights).
  • ‒ Press key -1- for "Rapid data transfer" mode.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer    HELP
Enter address word XX
  • ‒ Press keys 1 and 7 to enter address word of vehicle system to be tested (namely "Dash panel insert").
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer    Q
03 - Brake electronics
  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ Adjacent display then appears (example):
8Z0920930A    W1 Dash panel insert    VD0 X42    ⇒
Code 05142    WSC XXXXX
 
→ Indicated on display (function selection):
Rapid data transfer    HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Press keys 0 and 2 to enter "Interrogating fault memory" function.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer    Q
02 - Interrogating fault memory
  • ‒ Confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ The number of stored faults or "No faults detected" appears on the display.
X faults detected    
 
No faults detected    ⇒
  • ‒ Press ⇒ key.
  • The stored faults are consecutively displayed and printed out.
  • ‒ Consult fault table with fault message printout to eliminate faults.
  • As is the case with "No faults detected", program returns to start after pressing ⇒ key.
 
→ Indicated on display (function selection):
Rapid data transfer    HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ End output (function 06) .
 
→ If adjacent display appears:
Attention:    ⇒
Fault memory not interrogated
  • ‒ Fault memory has not been interrogated.
  • ‒ Select fault memory interrogation (function 02).
  • ‒ Switch off ignition and unplug diagnostic connector.

Notes:

Sequence of operations if fault has been detected:

1. Eliminate fault as per fault table on Page 01-157

2. Interrogate fault memory (function 02).

3. Erase fault memory (function 05).

4. End output (function 06).

5. Perform test drive

6. Interrogate fault memory again
