Vehicles with 1.4 l TDI engine Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Protective cover for bonnet Audi A2 -VAS 6011- Removing   Note All cable ties unfastened or severed on removal must be re-attached in the same position on installation.   Caution On vehicles with telematics system, activate service mode of telematics control unit before disconnecting battery → Radio, telephone, navigation, self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01. –  With the ignition switched off, disconnect the earth wire at the battery → Chapter.

–  Wash and rub dry the outside of the bonnet. –  Release the service flap from inside. –  Release the bonnet -arrows- and pull it forwards slightly.

–  Fit the protective cover -VAS 6011- over the bonnet.   Note

Do not stand the bonnet on end. –  Detach the bonnet and set it down on the protective cover -VAS 6011-.

–  Remove the water collecting tank -1- from the ABS hydraulic unit bracket. –  Lay the water collecting tank with connected drain hose -2- aside.

–  Cut the cable tie -2- and detach the cover -3- from the solenoid switch -1- upwards.

–  Unscrew nut -2-. –  If fitted, remove the left engine mount brace. –  Detach the positive terminal cover. –  Detach wires -3- and -4- from starter solenoid switch. –  Detach the wiring bracket -1-. –  Remove upper securing bolts of starter.

–  Remove the noise insulation -arrows-.

–  Remove nut -2- and remove the earth cable -3- from the starter. –  Remove lower double bolt -1- from starter. –  Remove starter downwards. Installing Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:   Note Re-attach all cable ties in the same locations on installation. –  Connect the battery. Action to be taken → Anchor. Tightening torques
