Vehicle Information

Condition

This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect for 15 months from date of publication. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.

Vehicle must meet ALL of the following criteria:

1.

Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the IQ code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair

2.

Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.

3.

Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.

Procedure must also be performed on applicable vehicles in Dealer inventory.

This RVU has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:

Airbag warning light on. DTC 02756/014-Redundant signal path for passenger airbag shut-off Faulty/Sporadic is stored in 15-Airbag.

Technical Background

NOTE: 

This TB is intended to proactively address an issue that has not been seen in any of the affected vehicles. The issue is long-term in nature and could
occur, if at all, only after (1) the vehicle has been subjected to an extended period of in-vehicle usage and (2) all the specific conditions described are
present.

In cases where battery voltage is insufficient such as a faulty battery, faulty charging system, cold weather or after the vehicle has been inactive for a long
period of time the available battery voltage during engine crank is further compromised. If the ignition key is cycled off during this time, the airbag 
control unit can mistakenly interpret the voltage spikes created by the P.O.D.S. voltage generator as a fault in the redundant signal path. The airbag
control unit then stores the fault 02756 / 014-Redundant signal path for passenger airbag shut-off.
