Contact Unit Connector

Ignition Pill Connector

Airbag Unit

Removing

-

Pull steering wheel as far out as possible and up.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - to center position (wheels point straight ahead).

-

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on. 

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - out of center position about 80° right.

-

Remove bolt - 11 -.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - about 160° left.

-

Remove bolt - 11 -.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - to center position (wheels point straight ahead).

-

Raise airbag unit - 7 - from steering wheel.

-

Release ignition pill connector (airbag unit connector) -  6 -.

-

Remove ignition pill connector - 6 -.

-

Disconnect multi-function wire connector - 8 - on airbag unit.

-

Remove airbag unit - 7 -.

Installing

‹› Make sure the detonator connector and the connector lock -  6 - engage completely (audibly).

‹› Ensure wires are not pinched.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - to center position (steering wheel spokes must be horizontal).

-

Place airbag unit - 7 - on lower curve of steering wheel - 2 -.

-

Connect ignition pill connector - 6 - to airbag unit -  7 -. Wire must face upward.

-

Lock ignition pill connector - 6 -. Connector and connector lock must engage completely (audibly).

-

Connect multi-function wire connector - 8 - to airbag unit coupling.

-

Route ignition pill connector wire in a loop to the left.

‹› No wires may contact gas generator.

‹› Ignition pill connector wire must not be pinched.

-

Position airbag unit - 7 - in steering wheel.

‹› Hold airbag unit in position while bolting.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - out of center position about 80° right.

-

Install bolt - 11 - approximately 2 turns.

-

Turn steering wheel - 2 - about 160° left.
