AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
^ MIL on.
^ One or both of the following DTCs are stored in the data memory:
^
P1347 (17755 - Bank 2, Crankshaft-/Camshaft Pos. Sens. Signals Out of Sequence)
^
P1340 (17748 - Crankshaft-/Camshaft Pos. Sens. Signals Out of Sequence)
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
The upper timing chain might have lengthened.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Several improvements have been introduced in the serial production.
SERVICE
If the DTCs listed above are stored in the data memory, the cause might be a lengthened upper timing chain. In order to find that out, the Measuring
Value Blocks 208 and 209 need to be checked.
Vehicle requirements:
^ Ignition switched on.
^ VAS 5051/5052 switched on, connected to vehicle and must have sufficient power supply at all times during procedure.
^ Also refer to Required Parts and Tools.
1. Check Measuring Value Blocks 208 and 209.
a. Ensure the engine is running in idle and has past the catalyst warm up mode (increased idle speed).
b. Select Vehicle Self-Diagnosis >> 01 - Engine Electronics >> 08 - Read Measuring Value Block.
