Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527, Removing And Installing
NOTE: Should the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module J527 require replacement, follow applicable component "Replacement"
procedure using VAS 5051/5051 in operating mode "Guided Fault Finding".
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drill bit Dia 2.5 mm; length min. 75 mm
Removing

Disconnect battery

Pull out steering wheel with adjuster as far as it will go and tilt downwards.
CAUTION: Special safety precautions apply to vehicles equipped with airbags. Heed all WARNINGS pertaining to airbag servicing

Remove airbag module and steering wheel.
CAUTION: Position of spiral spring must not be changed once steering wheel is removed. Apply adhesive tape as necessary.

Pull off gap cover -1- in direction of -arrow-.

Separate lower steering column trim from bottom trim -arrows-.
-
Pull off gap cover and disengage top steering column trim from bottom trim.
