5 - Anchorage points for centre floor panel > < 4 - Removing and installing rear three-point seat belt

Seat belts
4 - Removing and installing rear three-point seat belt MY 1998 > (with belt tensioner)

  • Belt tensioner
  • ◆ Removing three-point seat belt:
    • ‒ Disconnect battery.
    • ‒ Remove side trim
    • ‒ Remove luggage compartment trim
    • ‒ Remove D-pillar trim
      without head airbag => Page 70-118
    • ‒ Unplug electrical connector -3- at belt tensioner.

    • ‒ Pull insulation -7- back on one side until bolt -2- is reached.
    • ‒ Unscrew bolt -2-.

Note:

When unscrewing bolt -4- ensure that spacer bush -5- cannot drop into a cavity.

    • ‒ Unscrew bolt-4-.
    • ‒ Unscrew bolt -6- (1x)
    • ‒ Remove seat belt -1- from mount -10- with locating pin -9-.
  • ◆ Installing
    • ‒ Install in reverse sequence to removal.

    • ‒ Attach insulation with adhesive strips -8-.
    • ‒ Fit belt turned through 180°-arrow-.
    • ◆ After installing the three-point seat belt, check belt function for child seat => Page 69-46
    • ‒ After installing the three-point seat belt, check belt-fastened sensor => Page 69-47
  • Bolt (1x)
    • ‒ Tightening torque 55 Nm
  • Belt tensioner connector
  • Bolt (1x)
    • ‒ Tightening torque 55 Nm
  • Spacer bush

    • ‒ Tightening torque 55 Nm

  • Adhesive strips
  • Anti-twist element
  • Mounting

Notes:

  • ◆ After connecting the battery, please ensure that the vehicle accessories (radio, clock, electric window lifters) are checked according to workshop manual and/or operating instructions.
  • ◆ If the fault warning light (K 75) for airbag signals a fault after assembly the fault memory must be erased and again be interrogated by using fault reader V.A.G 1551.
