Seat belts
Safety regulations for handling pyrotechnic belt tensioners
  • ◆ Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • ◆ When connecting the belt tensioner unit, all mechanical parts (including those of the three-point seat belt) must be properly attached.
  • ◆ Other than the person performing the work, there should be no-one in the vehicle.
  • ◆ Belt tensioner components may neither be opened nor repaired; always use new parts.
  • ◆ Belt tensioner units which have been dropped from a height of more than 50 cm must not be installed in a vehicle.
  • ◆ Belt tensioner units which are mechanically damaged (dents, fractures) must be replaced.
  • ◆ The belt tensioner units must be installed immediately after removing them from their transport containers.
  • ◆ If the work is interrupted, the belt tensioner unit must again be placed in its transport container.
  • ◆ Never point open end of belt tensioner at another person.
  • ◆ Always wash hands after handling belt tensioners which have been activated.
  • ◆ Storage and transportation are subject to the legislation for explosive substances.
  • ◆ It is not permitted to leave the belt tensioner unit unattended.
  • ◆ The belt tensioner unit must not be treated with grease, cleaning or similar substances, nor may it be exposed to temperatures above 100 °C, even for short periods.
