Notes on heater in vehicles with map-controlled heating

In vehicles and map-controlled cooling (gradual introduction first in vehicles with 1.6 litre engine as of model year 1999):

  • ‒ A modified heater control with an additional switch -F269 for rotary temperature selection knob and a potentiometer -G267 for rotary temperature selection knob will be installed.

=> Parts List

  • ‒ A two-way valve for refrigerant shut-off valve -N147 is also fitted (it actuates the refrigerant shut-off valve via vacuum; the refrigerant shut-off valve is installed in the refrigerant hose between the engine and the heat exchanger in heater).

=> Parts List

Notes:

  • ◆ The two-way valve -N147 is actuated by the switch -F269 installed in the heater control to ensure that the flow of refrigerant through the heat exchanger is shut off if the setting "no heating" is activated (rotary temperature switch at "cold" stop).
  • ◆ The engine control unit detects the setting of the rotary temperature switch via the potentiometer -G267 installed in the heater control. The rotary temperature switch setting is taken into account by the engine control unit when controlling the refrigerant temperature (via actuation of the thermostat -F265 for map-controlled engine cooling).

=> Relevant Workshop Manual Injection and Ignition system

  • ‒ A different heat exchanger is installed in the heater (the heat exchanger is calibrated to the higher refrigerant temperature).

=> Parts List

  • ‒ The installation of the heat exchanger in the refrigerant circuit has been modified (feed and return lines have been interchanged).
