Renewing oil seal for torque converter > < Identification of torque converter
Removing sleeve bearing from turbine shaft
Removing sleeve bearing from turbine shaft
  Note
If a new torque converter with integrated needle bearing is installed in a gearbox with a sleeve bearing in the turbine shaft, the sleeve bearing must be removed .
   
Procedure
l  Gearbox removed → Chapter.
–  Position gearbox in installation position on the ATF oil pan.
–  Take out torque converter.
–  Position holes -A- in turbine shaft so that they are horizontal.

Protect gearbox from metal particles by carefully masking off turbine shaft and holes with adhesive tape.
  N32-0040
–  Saw open sleeve bearing with saw blade. When doing so, do not place saw blade on sleeve bearing joint -arrow-.
–  Make sure that no metal particles enter gearbox.
  N32-0039
–  Carefully prise off sawn-open sleeve bearing using screwdriver, without damaging turbine shaft.
–  Remove metal particles and adhesive tape.
–  Renew oil seal for torque converter → Chapter.
