Basic setting
Basic setting
After carrying out the following repair work always perform basic setting:
t  Renewing engine
t  Renewing gearbox
t  Renewing engine control unit
t  Renewing throttle valve module -J338-
t  Renewing automatic gearbox control unit -J217-
t  Renewing clutches and valve body
  Note
t  Voltage supply OK and all electrical equipment has been switched off
t  Throttle cable adjustment OK
t  Fault memory interrogated, any faults rectified and fault memory erased
–  Connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505x- to the diagnostic connector using diagnostic cable with the ignition switched off → Chapter.
–  Select vehicle system “02 - Gearbox electronics”. The ignition must be switched on.
   
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  From menu -1-, select diagnostic function “Basic setting” and advance by pressing → button.
  Note
Accelerator pedal must remain in idling position.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  Using keypad -1- press button 0 for “Display group 000” and confirm entry by pressing Q button.
System is now in basic setting.
–  Press down accelerator pedal as far as kick-down and hold in this position for 3 seconds.
–  End function “Basic setting” by touching ← button.
