Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Vacuum hand pump V.A.G 1390

Test sequence

• ‒ → Remove oil dipstick -1- from guide tube.
• ‒ Unclip caps.
• ‒ Unscrew nuts -arrows- and remove engine cover.
• ‒ Reinsert oil dipstick in guide tube.

• ‒ Pull vacuum hose off mechanical EGR valve.
• ‒ → Connect hand vacuum pump V.A.G 1390 to valve.
• ‒ Actuate hand vacuum pump.
• ‒ Pull hand vacuum pump hose off exhaust gas recirculation valve.
• ‒ The valve must be clearly heard to close. The diaphragm rod moves towards intake manifold

Note:

→ When air duct hose is removed the movement of the membrane rod in the intake manifold can be observed.
