Removing and installing exhaust manifold > < Separating centre and rear silencers

Removing
–  Unbolt protective cover -2--arrows-.
–  Unplug electrical connectors and move aside wiring for Lambda probes -1- and -3-.

  A24-0301
To avoid any damage, the flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
–  Unbolt front exhaust pipe from turbocharger -arrows-.

–  Disconnect exhaust system at clamp -arrows- and detach front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts.
–  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter.

l  1) The threads on the new Lambda probes are coated with a special assembly paste. If re-installing old Lambda probe, coat thread with high-temperature paste: Refer to → Parts catalogue for high-temperature paste. The assembly paste/high-temperature paste must not get into the slots on the probe body.
