Checking continued coolant circulation pumpV51
Checking continued coolant circulation pump -V51-
Procedure
l  Fuse for continued coolant circulation pump -V51- OK → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Switch on ignition.
l  The continued coolant circulation pump -V51- should run (can be felt and heard).
If pump does not run:
–  Switch off ignition.
   
–  Unplug electrical connector -right arrow- at continued circulation coolant pump -V51- on right side of radiator cowl.
  Note
Ignore -arrows- on left side of illustration.
  A10-0465
–  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527 B- between contacts -1- and -2- of connector.
–  Switch on ignition.
l  The LED should light up.
If the LED lights up:
–  Renew continued coolant circulation pump -V51-.
If LED does not light up:
  N24-0231
Vehicles not equipped with air conditioning:
–  Check for open circuit in wiring between contact 2 of connector for continued coolant circulation pump -V51- and continued coolant circulation relay -J151- (located in 19-position relay carrier on left of driver's footwell, position -13-) → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Check voltage supply of continued coolant circulation relay -J151- → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.

Vehicles with air conditioning:
–  Check wiring between contact -2- of connector to radiator fan control unit -J293- (at front left of engine compartment) → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Check voltage supply of radiator fan control unit -J293- → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
All vehicles:
–  Check for open circuit in wiring leading from contact -1- of connector to earth → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If no fault is found:
–  Renew continued coolant circulation relay -J151- or radiator fan control unit -J293-.
