Removing and installing charge air cooler   Note If there are slight impressions on the fins, refer to → Chapter.

Removing charge air cooler (left-side) –  Remove front left cover -arrows-.

–  Note (if necessary obtain) code on vehicles with coded radio / radio and navigation system (RNS). –  Disconnect earth wire at battery with ignition switched off. –  Remove battery tray -arrows-.

–  Remove centre noise insulation -arrows-.

–  Remove bumper cover (front) → Rep. Gr.63. –  Unclip air duct at charge air cooler. –  Unscrew bolts -2- at top securing charge air cooler. –  Remove top air intake hose -1- from charge air cooler.   Note Shown in illustration with headlight removed.

–  Remove bottom securing bolt -2-. –  Remove bottom air intake hose -1- from charge air cooler. –  Take out charge air cooler downwards.

Removing charge air cooler (right-side) –  Unscrew bolt -arrow- and remove cover over coolant expansion tank.

–  Remove air intake hose from air intake pipe -arrow-. –  Remove bumper cover (front) → Rep. Gr.63. –  Unclip air duct at charge air cooler.

–  Remove bottom bolt -2- securing charge air cooler. –  Detach bottom air intake hose -1- from charge air cooler. –  Unscrew bolts at top securing charge air cooler –  Pull out charge air cooler slightly and remove top air intake hose from charge air cooler. –  Take off charge air cooler. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Install bumper cover (front) → Rep. Gr.63. Tightening torques
