Effects of leaks in charge air system
Effects of leaks in charge air system
A - Leaks downstream of air mass meter
t  Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Connecting hose between air mass meter -G70- and turbocharger
2 - Connecting hose to crankcase breather
3 - Connecting hose to activated charcoal filter
t  Effect:
 - Loss of power
B - Leaks downstream of turbocharger (intake side)
t  Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Connecting hoses and pipes between turbocharger and charge air coolers
2 - Hose between charge air coolers and intake manifold
3 - Charge air coolers
4 - Seal of charge pressure sender -G31- (in air intake pipe)
5 - Gasket between throttle valve module -J338- and intake manifold
6 - Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head
7 - Connecting hose to solenoid valve for charge pressure control -N75-
t  Effect:
 - Inadequate charge pressure
C - Leaks downstream of turbocharger (exhaust side)
t  Possible causes of trouble:
1 - Connection between turbocharger and exhaust manifold
2 - Connection between exhaust manifold and cylinder head
t  Effect:
 - Inadequate charge pressure; possible smell of exhaust gas, traces of soot in engine compartment
