Removing

• ‒ Remove ribbed belt .
• ‒ → Remove tensioner for ribbed belt cover -arrows-.
• ‒ Drain coolant => Page 19-49.
• ‒ Position crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1 with engine installed => Page 13-39.
• ‒ Position crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1 with engine removed => Page 13-43.
• ‒ Removing toothed belt from camshaft sprocket
  .

• ‒ → Remove centre toothed belt guard -arrows-.

Notes:

• ◆ The vibration damper and lower toothed belt guard do not have to be removed.
• ◆ The toothed belt should be left in position on the crankshaft sprocket.
• ◆ Before removing the coolant pump, cover toothed belt with a cloth to protect from coolant.

• ‒ → Remove bolts -1- and -5-.
• ‒ Remove the rear toothed belt guard -2-, the coolant pump -4- and the O-ring -3-.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Notes:

• ◆ When performing installation procedures always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
• ◆ Replace O-ring.

• ‒ Clean and smooth down sealing surface for O-ring as required.
• ‒ → Lightly smear new O-ring -3- with coolant G 012 A8 D.
• ‒ Fit coolant pump -4-.
• ‒ Installation position: Sealing plug in housing faces downwards.
• ‒ Fit rear toothed belt guard and tighten bolt 1 to 20 Nm.
• ‒ Tighten bolts -5- for coolant pump to 15 Nm.
• ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-36.

• ‒ → Remove tensioner for ribbed belt -arrows-.
• ‒ Install ribbed belt=> Page 13-11.
• ‒ Top up coolant => Page 19-52.

    1)    Install using locking compound;
