Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Oil seal extractor 2085
• ◆ Counterhold 3415
• ◆ Assembly tool T10071

Removing

• ● Cylinder head installed

• ‒ Position crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1 with engine installed .
• ‒ Position crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1 with engine removed => Page 13-43.
• ‒ Removing toothed belt from camshaft sprocket
  .

Note:

Remove the bolts from the threaded bores -arrows- before applying counterhold 3415.

• ‒ → Detach camshaft sprocket (use counterhold 3415).
• ‒ Remove camshaft sprocket.
• ‒ Remove Woodruff key from camshaft.

• ‒ Fully insert securing bolt for camshaft sprocket into camshaft by hand in order to guide the oil seal extractor.
• ‒ Adjust inner part of oil seal extractor 2085 until it is flush with the outer part and lock in position with knurled screw.
• ‒ → Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor 2085, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
• ‒ Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part of extractor against camshaft until oil seal has been extracted.
• ‒ Clamp flats of oil seal extractor in vice. Remove oil seal with pliers.

Installing

• ‒ Do not lubricate sealing lip of oil seal.
• ‒ → Position oil seal with guide sleeve T10071/1 and press in up to stop with press sleeve T10071/2.
• ‒ Remove guide sleeve.
• ‒ Insert Woodruff key in camshaft.

• ‒ → Fit and tighten the camshaft sprocket (use counterhold 3415)

Note:

If a piston is at TDC the valves could strike the piston when turning the camshaft. To avoid damage to valves and pistons the pistons must not be at TDC. Danger of damaging valves/pistons.

• ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-36.
