  • ◆ V.A.G 1274
  • ◆ V.A.G 1274/8
  • ◆ V.A.G 1274/9

Test requirement:

  • ● Engine at operating temperature.

Test sequence

Warning!
Hot steam or hot coolant can escape when the cap on the expansion tank is opened. Cover the cap with a cloth, and open it carefully.
  • ‒ Open cap on coolant expansion tank.

  • ‒ → Fit tester V.A.G 1274 with adapter V.A.G 1274/8 onto expansion tank.
  • ‒ Using hand pump on tester, build up a pressure of approx. 1.0 bar.
  • ‒ If pressure is not maintained, trace leak and rectify fault.

Testing pressure relief valve in filler cap.

  • ‒ → Fit tester V.A.G 1274 with adapter V.A.G 1274/9 onto filler cap.
  • ‒ Operate hand pump.
    • ‒ Pressure relief valve should open at 1.4 ... 1.6 bar.
