Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Oil seal extractor 3203
• ◆ Retainer 3415
• ◆ Guide sleeve T10053

Removing

• ● Engine in vehicle

• ‒ Remove toothed belt .
• ‒ → Remove toothed belt sprocket from crankshaft. To do this, hold sprocket in position with counter-hold tool 3415.

• ‒ → Before applying oil seal extractor, screw central bolt for toothed belt sprocket into crankshaft as far as it will go.

• ‒ Unscrew the inner part of the oil seal extractor 3203 one turn out of the outer part and lock with knurled screw.
• ‒ → Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor, place it in position and exerting firm pressure screw it as far as possible into oil seal.
• ‒ Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until oil seal is pulled out.
• ‒ Clamp flats of oil seal extractor in vice. Remove oil seal with pliers.
• ‒ Clean contact surface and sealing surface.

Installing

• ‒ Do not lubricate sealing lip or outer circumference of seal before pressing in.
• ‒ → Fit guide sleeve T10053/1 onto crankshaft journal.
• ‒ Slide oil seal over guide sleeve.

• ‒ → Press oil seal in until flush using central bolt for toothed belt sprocket and press sleeve T10053.

• ‒ Renew central bolt for toothed belt sprocket.
• ‒ → Remove crankshaft sprocket. To do this counter-hold crankshaft sprocket with counter-hold tool 3415.

Notes:

• ◆ Contact surface between toothed belt sprocket and crankshaft must be free of oil.
• ◆ Do not oil bolt for crankshaft sprocket.

• ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-30.

Note:

Follow all instructions for removing and installing toothed belt

• ‒ Install ribbed belt .

Tightening torque

    1)    Renew bolt

    2)    90° is a quarter turn
