Checking intake manifold pressure sender and altitude sender

The altitude sender is located in the diesel direct injection system control unit. The intake manifold pressure sender is a separate component and is located together with the intake manifold temperature sender in a joint housing in the charge air cooler. The intake manifold pressure sender is a separate component and is located on the intake manifold.

→ Read measurement block display group 10, engine not running
Read measured value block 10    ⇒
    0 mg/stroke     1027 mbar     1013 mbar    0.0 %
  • ‒ Compare reading in display field 2 (altitude sender -F96) to that in display field 3 (intake manifold pressure sender -G71).
    • Specified value: Pressures match
      (Tolerance ±30 mbar)

If specified value is not attained:

    • ‒ Compare displayed pressures using a barometer (e.g. turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397/A),
      Tolerance ± 30 mbar

If the value in display zone 2 does not correspond:

    • ‒ Renew Diesel direct-injection system control unit.

If the value in display zone 3 does not correspond:

    • ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/22 to wiring harness for engine control unit .
