• ‒ Connect the V.A.G. 1551 fault reader .
• ‒ Select the function "Reading measured value block" (function 08) and Display Group 03.

• ‒ Observe readout in display zone 3.

• Specified value: The temperature reading should increase at a uniform rate.

If display zone 3 shows an implausible value:

• ‒ Switch the ignition off.
• ‒ → Pull off the connector on the sensor => Overview of fitting locations, Page 24-5.
• ‒ Connect the V.A.G 1598/22 test box to the wiring harness for the engine control unit

• ‒ → Check the wiring from the 4 pin connector ...
• ‒ ...t o the engine control unit for an open circuit and short to positive or earth. Check the earth.

• ‒ If necessary, rectify open circuit or short circuit.

If no fault is detected in the wiring:

• ‒ Replace the sensor for coolant temperature (G62).
