Test sequence
Test sequence
–  Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051- or fault reader -V.A.G 1551- and select engine electronics control unit by entering “address word ” 01. For this purpose, the ignition must be switched on.
   
Indicated on display:
–  Enter “08” for the function “Read measured value block” and confirm entry with the Q key.

Indicated on display:
–  Enter “004” for “Display group number 004” and confirm entry with the Q key.
–  Check specified value for intake air temperature sender in display zone 4:

Specificationxxxx rpm12.0...15.0 V80.0...110.0 °Cfrom ambient temperature to 80°C. If a temperature is displayed which deviates greatly from the ambient temperature of the sender, check sender and sender wiring for contact resistances and open circuit.
Note:   If 9 °C or 30 °C are indicated continuously, check the wiring connections → Chapter
If approx. ambient temperature is indicated and a fault is stored in the fault memory with regard to -G42-, check the sender → Chapter
