Checking auxiliary signals > < Special tools and workshop equipment required
Procedure
Procedure
–  Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051- or fault reader -V.A.G 1551- and select engine electronics control unit by entering “address word ” 01. For this purpose, the ignition must be switched on.
   
Indicated on display:
–  Enter “04” for the function “Start basic setting” and confirm entry with the Q key.

Indicated on display:
–  Enter “063” for “Display group number 063” and confirm entry with the Q key.

  Note!
Tester now displays prompt e.g. “Press and hold pedal”.
–  Fully depress accelerator pedal beyond kickdown point and keep it pressed.
“ADP. running” is displayed on the tester during the adaption phase.
  Note!
The abbreviation “ADP.” stands for adaption.
When the kick down point has been adapted successfully, “ADP. OK” is displayed on the tester and the accelerator can be released.
If specified value “ADP. OK” is attained:
–  Press the key.

If “ERROR” is displayed:
–  Interrogate fault memory ⇒ Page and .
“ERROR” may be displayed, for example, if - following tester prompt - accelerator pedal is not fully depressed immediately or if accelerator pedal is released with adaption already in progress but not yet completed. In both cases it is necessary to exit the “Basic setting” mode and restart the adaption process → Chapter.
