Servicing diesel direct injection system
Safety precautions
To prevent injuries to persons and/or damage to the injection and glow plug system, the following must be noted:

◆ Switch off the ignition before connecting or disconnecting injection or glow plug system wiring or tester cables.

◆ If the engine is to be operated at starting speed without starting, e.g. for checking compression, unplug the connector from the injection pump.

◆ For radios with anti-theft coding, ask for code before disconnecting battery.

◆ Only disconnect and connect the battery with the ignition switched off, otherwise the diesel direct injection system control unit may be damaged.
Note the following points if testers and measuring instruments have to be used during a road test:

◆ Testers and measuring instruments must always be secured to the rear seat and operated by a 2nd person from this location.
- If test equipment were operated from the front passenger seat, the person sitting there could be injured if the front passenger airbag were triggered in the event of an accident.
Important
Secure fault reader to the rear seat and operate from this location.
