Reading measured value block

Safety precautions

Note the following points if testers and measuring instruments have to be used during a road test:

  • ◆ Testers and measuring instruments must always be secured to the rear seat and operated by a 2nd person from this location.
  • If test equipment were operated from the front passenger seat, the person sitting there could be injured if the front passenger airbag were triggered in the event of an accident.

Procedure

  • ‒ Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 or fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit with "Address word" 01 .
    For this purpose, the engine should be idling.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Press keys 0 and 8 for the function "Read measured value block" and confirm entry with Q key.
 
→ Indicated on display:
Read measured value block HELP
Enter display group number XX
  • ‒ Enter the desired display group number and confirm entry with the Q key.

1)    If the intake temperature is 5 °C when the engine is started, the additional heater is switched off when a coolant temperature of 70 °C is reached. However, if the air temperature is -10 °C, the heater is not switched off until the coolant temperature reaches 80 °C.
