TDI®injection and glow plug system (4-cyl. unit injector)
Self-diagnosis
Connecting vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 and selecting functions

Requirements for test:

  • ● Battery voltage not less than 12.7 V
  • ● Fuses for engine electronics OK.

=> Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations binder

  • ● Earth connections on engine and gearbox OK

Work sequence

  • ‒ Switch off ignition.
  • ‒ → Connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 with diagnostic cable VAS 5051/1.

If an error message appears in the display:

  • ‒ Select "Vehicle self-diagnosis".

Note:

Select "00 - Interrogate all fault memories" in the menu -1- to start the automatic test sequence (interrogation of fault memories of all vehicle systems with self-diagnosis capability.

Depending on the function required (see table of diagnosis functions => Page 01-6):

  • ‒ Switch on ignition.

or

  • ‒ Start the engine.
  • ‒ Select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" in the menu -1-.
  • ‒ Wait until the next display appears
