Checking axial clearance

• ‒ → Pull wishbone firmly downwards and press up again.

Checking radial clearance

• ‒ → Press bottom of wheel firmly inwards and outwards.

Notes:

• ◆ Observe ball joint during checking.
• ◆ Neither check should reveal any palpable or visible "play".
• ◆ Make allowance for any wheel bearing clearance or "play" in upper suspension strut mounting.
• ◆ Check rubber bellows for damage; replace ball joint if necessary.
