Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • ◆ Mount VW 441
  • ◆ Thrust pad VW 447 H
  • ◆ Engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A
  • ◆ 3 - Kukko 15/1 and 17/1 parting tools

Replacement of two-piece bonded rubber bushes involves unfastening and lowering subframe.

Removing

  • ‒ → Screw out bolt -arrow- at noise insulation.

  • ‒ → Disengage rubber mount at front exhaust pipe -arrow-.
  • ‒ Screw out bolts -1- for subframe.
  • ‒ Only slacken off subframe bolts -3- such that bushes become accessible.

  • ‒ → Apply parting tool and pull out upper half of bush.

 
A40-0247
  • ‒ Insert thrust pad VW 447 h.
  • ‒ → Use mount VW 441 and engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A to press subframe upwards until bottom half of bush drops out.

Installing

  • ‒ Place both halves of bush in position at subframe.
  • ‒ → Installation position of bush halves
  •     A -    Upper half of bush without collar: ribs facing body
  •     B -    Lower half of bush: collar facing bolt head -arrow-

Notes:

  • ◆ Press in using acid-free assembly lubricant G 294 421 A1
    =>General notes, Page 40-33.
  • ◆ Never use grease.

  • ‒ → Use engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A to press new bushes into subframe.
  • ‒ Install subframe .
