Note:

Two mechanics are required for adjustment, which is to be performed with engine switched off.

• ‒ Raise vehicle on lifting platform.
• ‒ Wheels in straight ahead position.
• ‒ Turning steering wheel back and forth (roughly 30°about centre axis) produces a rattling noise in the event of excessive steering play.

• ‒ → Have second mechanic carefully screw in adjusting screw (arrow) until rattling noise disappears inside vehicle.
• ‒ Perform test drive and make sure that, after manoeuvring/cornering steering wheel returns automatically and smoothly to straight ahead position. Correct setting if necessary.

• ‒ → Secure adjusting nut to stop it turning by making centre punch mark -arrow- in collar of steering box housing.
