Performing zero compensation of steering angle sender -G85- |
Perform zero compensation of steering angle sender after removing steering wheel, after performing adjustment on the running gear during wheel alignment and after renewing the ABS with EDL control unit -J104-, the steering angle sender -G85- or the steering column, or if zero compensation is required in fault tables. |

| Requirement: ABS with EDL control unit -J104- properly coded → Chapter. |

| Turn the steering wheel approx. 60° to left or right and back again until the front wheels are in straight-ahead position and the steering wheel is positioned horizontally (tolerance ± 4.5°). |

| Perform short road test on a level surface. Drive in a straight line and not faster than 20 km/h and observe the following points. |
If the steering wheel is not horizontal: |
If the steering wheel is horizontal during the road test: |

| Bring the vehicle to a standstill - still keeping it in a straight line. |

| Do not change position of steering wheel! |

| Do not switch off ignition! |

| Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051 A- → Chapter and select vehicle system “03 - Brake electronics”. When doing this the ignition must be switched on. |
