Compass calibration Calibration requirements: t  Open flat area (maximum gradient 4°) t  Avoid magnetic or electromagnetic fields, i.e. do not drive alongside power lines, past a line of trucks or close to reinforced-concrete structures and not where there is a lot of iron in the vicinity (e.g. scrap, steel scaffolding, etc.) t  Speed approx. 20 ... 30 km/h t  Test track should ideally take the form of a circle with a diameter of at least 30 m; the route may also be rectangular, provided starting and end points are the same Indicated on display:

DRIVE SLOWLY IN CIRCLE > 30 M
>	START

–  Press ENTER key to start circular run. Indicated on display:

END OF CIRCLE REACHED?
>	OK

–  Drive over test distance in line with calibration requirements and, on completion, press ENTER key to confirm “OK” display. Successful compass calibration concludes navigation system test drive. Indicated on display:

CALIBRATION TEST DRIVE OVER
>	CONTINUE

–  Press ENTER key to continue. Indicated on display:

SERVICE MENU:
>	WHEEL CALIB. WIRING TEST DRIVE SYS. TEST END

–  Use Cursor keys to select menu item “END”. –  Confirm selection by pressing ENTER key. The following fault message appears if compass could not be calibrated: Indicated on display:

COMPASS CANNOT BE CALIBRATED
>	CONTINUE

A more detailed description of the calibration error is given on the display. Compass calibration is then always to be repeated → Chapter. –  Press ENTER key to continue. One of the three following fault messages appears on the display. 1. Cause of fault:

DISTANCE TOO SHORT
>	CONTINUE

–  Press ENTER key to continue and repeat compass calibration → Chapter. 2. Cause of fault:

INTERFERENCE DURING CIRCULAR RUN
>	CONTINUE

–  Press ENTER key to continue and repeat compass calibration → Chapter. 3. Cause of fault:

CIRCLE NOT COMPLETE
>	CONTINUE

–  Press ENTER key to continue and repeat compass calibration → Chapter.
